big boy...but still my baby

Not so much a baby anymore...more like a big boy. A real live big boy.
Marshall turned 15 months old over the weekend and I am just now getting around to blogging about it (at least I'm getting to it now). Marshall has changed so much since I last did a month birthday blog (last one was at 12 months...oops)!

We took Marshall to the doctor on Friday.

weight: 27 pounds 9 ounces (90th percentile)
length: 31 inches (75th percentile)
head: still "off the charts big" (They literally don't give us any numbers when it comes to his head circumference, that's how big it is.)

What's Marshall up to these days?
-into everything cars, trucks, boats, and planes
-loves books, I mean LOVES them (most days I can't even get breakfast cleaned up and he is pulling me into the living room with a book in his hand)
-saying more words than I can count, he is quite verbal!
-sleeping late (oh, how I have waited for this day to come)
-going on an eating strike... so that weight should continue to "trend down" as the doctor says
-still loves his loveys (we have to wave and say "bye-bye" to them every morning and drop them back in the crib, otherwise he would carry them around all day...and that's just not okay)
-fascinated by the moon and stars
-"side" (outside) is his most favorite place to be
-he is non-stop motion all the time, which causes him to completely crash at nap time and bedtime

Marshie-Moo we love you! I told Aunt Sis today that you are more than I ever prayed for. I've thought about that more and I have come to realize that you are more than I even ever knew to pray for. You are the most precious gift and I am so thankful for you. You are my sweet sweet boy and I can't remember what life was like without you. I imagine it was pretty boring. Little buddy, you're the best! And even though you are becoming such a big boy, in a way... you'll always be my baby.

Picture of the Day

I think this smile looks a bit more natural than the ones I posted yesterday.

Smile

We've been trying to teach Marsh to smile on command. This might have been a mistake! Whenever we say, "Hey Marsh, can you smile?" He tilts his chin up and gives us this goofy smile. Man oh man, I love this kid!

Crazy Boy

When Marshall was first born we really tried to push the pacifier. I couldn't understand why he couldn't keep the pacifier in his mouth by himself. He would suck on it as long as Scott or I would hold it in his mouth for him. I remember a couple weeks after bringing him home asking Scott, "How long does it take babies to learn to keep it in their mouth by themselves?" Then I saw a baby that was just a couple of days old happily sucking on her pacifier (with no assistance). I then realized that he just wasn't going to be a pacifier kid.

You can imagine my surprise when he pulled a pacifier out of his toy box, popped it in his mouth, and sucked on it! It didn't last too long, he really was just playing. He then spit it out and started laughing.

Halloween Take 2

On Trick or Treat night we decided to break out the penguin costume since we had it anyway. One of the animal noises Marshall knows is the elephant, he would make the sound whenever we put the elephant costume on him and move his arm like an elephant trunk (which was pretty cute). What was funny is that he did the same thing when we put the penguin on him. He looked like one confused little penguin. He has since learned that a penguin goes "wa, wa, wa" (waddle, waddle, waddle). Love this boy!

excited about going to get treats
It didn't take him long to figure out how the whole trick or treat thing worked.
