Swinging

Big News: Pop and Loni got a swing set!!! Marshall loves it when we go to the park to swing and now he has place to swing right across the street. What a happy boy this makes him. We head down almost every morning to spend some time outside. Once he's a little bigger he'll be able to use all of the other equipment like his big cousins.

Walking down to Pop and Loni's to swing. I think he knows where we're going.

Do they Look Alike?

Many in Scott's family have said that Marshall looks "exactly" like Scott did when he was a baby. We spent some time cleaning through old boxes in the basement this weekend and happened upon some of Scott's baby photos (as well as elementary, middle and high school photos...I won't embarrass him with the middle school photos). Marshall was napping and we just sat in the basement laughing as we went through these photos, report cards, newspaper clippings, and other awards (back to one of his awards in a minute).

As we looked at some baby pictures Scott said, "He doesn't look like me, he's so much cuter than me." Spoken like a true father right? See what you think, does he look like Scott?

This is the picture Scott picked up and said, "No, he does not look like me."

I love this outfit, "Lil' Player!" He is definitely a lil' playa with those knee socks. :)

I can for sure see some Marshall in this photo, especially the shaggy hair. I think Marshall might have a few pounds on him though.

Still laughing. Katie, I am so sorry!

Whoa!!! Let's just say that Scott is forever grateful to his orthodontist.

Back to the award I mentioned...apparently Scott earned the prestigious title of "Kimosabe!" I never knew this until Saturday morning when I came across this certificate, let me just say that I have been calling him "Kimosabe" all weekend. He told me I should probably be calling him "Master Kimosabe." I don't see "master" any where on this certificate. "Kimosabe" it is, notice that the only criteria to become a "Kimosabe" is to have a "safe and fun" ride!

Can't Resist

I couldn't resist posting a few more oreo pictures. I took so many and had a hard time deleting.

*the oreo was a reduced fat oreo* (not sure why I felt I needed to justify giving my child a cookie)

The Oreo

We gave Marshall an oreo cookie for dessert one evening this past week. The boy was as happy as he could be, mainly because he has only ever had small tastes of dessert... never his very own cookie!

He might have inherited his mother's sweet tooth. :)

Bedtime Stories

We have started including bedtime stories to our nightly routine. Marshall is getting to the point where he will sit for a short time while we read to him. He has a few favorite books: Brown Bear, Brown Bear What Do You See?, Polar Bear, Polar Bear What Do You Hear?, Hello Lily, Bird Fly High, and Puppies and Kittens. We use mostly board books because I don't think any other book could withstand the destruction that is Marshall. :)

I think Marshall enjoys this quiet time with daddy. It's a good way to end the day.

9 Months (and a bunch of updates)

How is it possible that he is already nine months old? This little guy just makes my heart happy. If you ask his Pop, he makes his heart happy too! I think he makes a lot of hearts happy. He's changed so much in just 9 months, he is now into EVERYTHING. I don't think walking is too far off. I can barely keep up with him now, I am in some major trouble once he is on two feet and running.

What's he doing at nine months?

-waving to everyone (even his own pictures hanging on the wall)
-saying, "hi" (it is actually pretty clear too!)
-figuring out toys (he knows which buttons to push on which toys to get the music to play)
-eating table food almost exclusively (just trying to use up the baby food that's left in the pantry-he's ready to be DONE with that)
-understanding more words (when we say, "Where's baby?" he will look toward the pictures of himself-so cute)
-giving big wet kisses (this actually depends on his mood-most of the time I can count on him giving me a big juicy kiss)
-understands "no" (however, he does not always obey this command-we have some work to do on that)

We love you sweet Marsh-Man! You are getting to be such a big boy. Could you just slow down a little? I want you to stay my baby.
