Big Brother Trip

At the end of May we took Marshall on a special big brother vacation.  Scott had some work to do in Myrtle Beach and we thought Marshall would enjoy both the beach/water park as well as some undivided attention from mom and dad.  We saw a side of Marshall that we have never seen!  He loved having both of us all to himself.  It was a sweet sweet time with this precious boy.  We plan to make it a yearly tradition and once Lily is old enough we plan on taking her on a Little Sister Vacation.

He couldn't get enough of the beach despite some rain and cooler temps.

He was fearless on the water slide.  The water was frigid.  Scott took over this activity because I don't do cold water so well.

He ate breakfast on the balcony each morning and chatted about the ocean and sea life.

Not a bad view!

the spoon

Lily is learning how to use a spoon and she feels pretty great about it!  I'm not a huge fan of the mess but the girl's gotta learn I suppose.

Donuts for Dad

Just before school was out for summer the kids had a special breakfast to celebrate the dads.

Here's what Marshall had to say about his daddy:

My dad is kind.  He is about 31 years old.  He has brown hair, and hazel eyes.  I like him best when he wears church clothes.  Most of the time he gives me hugs.  He is funniest when he sticks out his tongue.  He his handsomest when he wears his blue shirt.  The nicest thing my daddy does for me is fix my broken toys.  When I do something that I shouldn't do, he spanks me.  I know my daddy loves me because he does everything for me.

Mother's Day Tea

Just before Mother's Day I was invited to attend a Mother's Day tea at Marshall's preschool.  It is my most favorite event of the year.  Lots of precious crafts made just for me by my sweet boy.  The teacher also had him fill out a questionare about his mom.

Here's how it read:

My mother is good.  She is about 31 years old.  She has red hair and blue eyes.  I like her best when she wears her jacket.  Most of the time she cooks.  The best thing my mother cooks is breakfast burritos.  I don't like her regular mashed potatoes very much.  She is funniest when she blinks her eyes.  She is prettiest when she wears a dress.  The nicest thing my mother does for me is let me watch a show.  When I do something that I shouldn't do, she puts me in time out.  I know my mother loves me because she kisses me.

a (very) little about Marshall

Love this kid! I am such a sucker for a little boy in a bow tie.

He calls the crust of sandwiches the skin and it makes me smile every time. He calls creamy peanut butter the "soft peanut butter."

Tonight as we were driving he was telling us about the goats, chickens, ducks, and small horse that were at his school today. Scott asked him if he was able to pet the animals. Marshall responded, "Some of my friends did but I didn't because I didn't want dirty animal hands." I have to admit, I gave him a high five. I can appreciate animals from a distance but have no desire to live with them or touch them. He's definitely my boy!

The thing I appreciate most about Marshall is his tender heart. He is quick to apologize if he has disobeyed or wronged someone. Scott and I are learning to take a lesson from him and be quicker to apologize and do so with a true heart of repentance. Amazing how God uses a three year old to show us areas of sin and weakness.

We love you Mo! You are a great big brother, and an awesome kid.

hodge podge

Just some random pictures of the going-ons around here over the last couple of days.

Lily got a new dress.  Oh the cuteness...

Marshall had to have a picture with his sister since they were both in their cowboy/cowgirl jammies.  They were fresh out of the tub (therefore no bow on Lily and hair in her face) but he was so excited for a picture with her.  I was going to take their picture in the living room and then I noticed he was going outside.  I guess he is used to me taking his picture on the front steps.

Pictures with his sister turned into a quick game of hopscotch.  I mean it was all set up and just waiting on him to play.

Again with the dress!
