Perfect Day at the Park

I took all three boys to the park today to play and have a picnic. The high was 75 here and it was perfect park weather. We had a great time playing outside without sweating the whole time. It was actually pretty windy and overcast so we all wore long sleeves. This makes me so excited for fall. Marshall ate some mulch and thoroughly enjoyed himself. Please, someone tell me that my child isn't the only one that eats dirt, mulch, rocks etc. Not only does he eat these things, he doesn't at all seem bothered when he puts them in his mouth and he gets upset when I try and get them out of his mouth. I don't think all kids do this, maybe they do??? Maybe? I hope he's not the only one!

Party Pics

Tiffiney put some pictures of Marshall's party on her blog . I knew some of you would be interested, especially those of you that couldn't make the trek to be here and celebrate in person. I love how they came out and can't wait to see the rest. Thanks again, Tiffiney! You Rock!

Once you get to the blog, scroll down until you see the post titled, "Marshall / 1 Year."

A Visit

I-Pa and Nana came to visit and help celebrate Marshall's first birthday. I think I-Pa must have hogged Marshall because we didn't get a single picture of Nana and Marshall. We will definitely need to do this when we visit them in October.

I was really surprised at how quickly Marshall warmed up to them. They arrived at 1:15 and Marshall went down for his nap at 2:00, when he woke up from his nap he went straight to I-Pa and snuggled with him while he had his cracker and juice. He was very content to sit and snuggle, later in the weekend he was comfortable enough to be giving out kisses.

He pretty much had I-pa figured out by the time they left. He knew that if I-pa was putting him to bed and he cried, I-pa would scoop him back up and cuddle him a little longer. This was from the kid who doesn't utter a peep when it's bedtime, just rolls over and goes to sleep. It's funny how kids know how to work it, even at age one!

We had a great visit I-Pa and Nana, come again soon!

wet kisses!

Just Me and My Boy

Stats

Marshall had his one year well baby check today, this visit also came with shots and a finger prick. All in all, it was a pretty rough day for the little Marsh-Man.

Stats:
weight: 26 pounds 6 ounces-90th percentile
height:30 and a half inches-75th percentile
head: still huge

He was very happy when the doctor came in and he did great while she did the exam. Then....came the finger prick. It all went downhill from there. The finger prick was followed by shots and he left a very sad boy.

He knows he's ONE!

And I think he's pretty happy about it.

Marshall,

We can't believe you're one. You are growing too quickly. I wish I could freeze time and keep you this age. I know I can't do that and so I look forward to seeing the little boy you will become. I can't wait to see what interests you and what makes you laugh. Right now you are interested in boats and cars and balls. You are such a BOY! You always laugh when you burp, that is just so funny to you. You are such a BOY!

You are really starting to try and communicate. The words you say are: mama, dada, juice, no-no, vroom, bye, hi, nana, shoes, night-night, yes. There are many words you attempt to say but you only say the first sound. Daddy and I know what you are saying most of the time. Some of your favorites to try: Sam, Jack, Tom, flower, cookie, more, handy, sorry, Pop, side (outside), clock, boat, balloon. Daddy and I are so excited for the day that we can have little conversations with you. You are still signing lots of words too!

One of your favorite things to do is take an object and hold it to your ear like a phone and say, "hiiiii." You always say it in a high pitched voice. It cracks us up. You always seem to get shy when there is actually someone on the phone talking to you. You have started to shake your finger and say "no-no" just like we say it to you. It's really hard to keep a straight face especially since you do this after you've done something you know you aren't supposed to do. You love Handy Manny. We don't let you watch it very often, but when you hear the Handy Manny song your precious little face lights up. You hurry to your feet and you get down. You dance and clap and smile. When it's over, you always sign for "more." You love to snuggle at bedtime. This is something I have been waiting for, you haven't always been a big snuggler. I am so glad you love it now. We talk and sing and snuggle and pray every night before bed. It's my favorite time with you. We treasure this time because we know the day will come when you will be too big to rock and a day will also come that you won't be so interested in snuggling with mom and dad. We'll just take it all in now and get lots of extra snuggles in while we can.

We love you Marshall and are so thankful that you are our son. You bring so much joy to our family. We love you sweet boy.

Love,
Mommy and Daddy
